Some Things Are Different in France: Recycling

Many more things get recycled here, including all forms of packaging, even plastic wrappers, caps, and bags. Surprisingly, paper towels and tissues go with the compostables, not with the other paper goods.

Glass goes in a totally separate container, which you have to go find on the roadside. Of course they’re large (all those wine bottles!), so easy to spot.

The local supermarket has bins for recycling all kinds of things we throw out at home.

With all the recent news at home that recycling is a money-loser for towns and many are phasing it out, I wonder if the French system makes a net profit or loss? We sent many of our recyclables to China and elsewhere. Do the French send theirs somewhere too?
