Out and About

We’ve visited several of our favorite spots – the beaches at Cameros and Pentrez, which we can easily walk to, Pointe de Dinan and Cap de la Chèvre – and enjoyed a new one – a hike at Pointe du Van, about an hour away by car. So many beautiful views, it’s hard to choose just a few for the blog…so maybe there are a few too many!

The walk around the point by the beach at Cameros is as gorgeous as ever:

The beach at Pentrez still has an amazing variety of wind and water sports. When we visited there were many kites flying, the sand yachts were zooming around, and so were all kinds of hydrofoiling boards out in the water. M asked me if I would have tried parawing hydrofoils if they had been around back in the day when I was sailboarding. Not being an adrenaline junkie, I don’t think so…but who knows?

Every drive to Crozon takes us past an attractive field full of hay bales. We finally stopped one day to capture it for posterity:

I liked the Pointe du Van, just north of the Pointe du Raz at the tip of the peninsula south of us, better than du Raz – fewer people and nicer views while hiking along the coast.

M liked the Pointe du Van because he finally found a few ripe blackberries. We’re usually here later in the year and blackberry eating is one of his favorite activities on the trail. This year he’d been checking every patch we passed but found only red ones, so he was very excited to find a few edible ones.

In the last two days we’ve hiked at Pointe de Dinan and Cap de la Chèvre (Cape of the Goat). The sky and the water were blue, with fabulous views and great picture taking. I continue to try to capture the beauty of the blooming heather and gorse in photos. The ones from Cap de la Chèvre are the best I’ve managed so far, but I think you really just have to come and experience it in person… preferably in September when there aren’t as many people! 🙂

  1. Such gorgeous oceanside cliffs and scenery. With blackberry treats, too! Glad you two are having fun!
