Soooo Many Flowers

If you don’t like dahlias, this is not the post for you! Last Monday we went to the Insel Mainau, an island in Lake Constance (the Bodensee). It’s known as the Blumeninsel – the Flower Island – and it’s not hard to figure out why. 12,000 dahlias in over 250 varieties – wow!

You can see the bees only like the simple dahlias. The fluffy dahlias are gorgeous, but the breeders have sacrificed the reproductive parts for more petals. I’m going to plant more of the simple ones next year – they’re beautiful and bee-full!

  1. I am glad to see that you are getting some fine weather. For a while there I thought you were going to be cold and wet throughout.

    Love the flower photos, and the old buildings that appear tattooed. Wonderful scenery!

    Has the wet weather caused any problems for the electric bikes?
