Tuesday blessed us with beautiful weather and we made the most of it. We started with a trip to the Breitachklamm, one of several ravines in the area. As we headed up along the beautiful stream, the temperature dropped at least ten degrees (F). The water is COLD!

It’s also crystal clear and a lovely icy-blue-green color.

It gets narrower and narrower… and dark. The narrowest point is just 2 meters (6.5 ft).

A long climb up stairs gave us a different perspective. How many eons did it take for the water to carve this out?

A series of switchbacks and a walk through the woods rewarded us with more great views.

We took the bus back to town, then headed to the heights. A cable car leaves right from Oberstdorf and goes to the top of the Nebelhorn, one of the mountains encircling the town. After passing the landing area for the hang gliders, who also take the cable car up to their launch point, and the ski jumps, we reached the spectacular views at the peak.

After taking many, many photos, we soaked in the view while enjoying a beer (M) and an Aperol spritz (J). Ahhhh… a perfect day.
What? No hang gliding for M?
