Market Day

Céret has the nicest weekly market we’ve seen in France. It’s a great mix of fruit and vegetable sellers, prepared foods, handmade items, and clothing (and a few sellers of junky plastic stuff – there’s no escaping it completely). It’s also very easy to get to – right outside our door! The first week we were here it rained, and there weren’t that many vendors or customers. The second week the weather was beautiful and there were hordes of people. We dilly-dallied around the house and didn’t head out until around 11, which proved to be a mistake – many of the vegetables we were looking for were sold out. We did manage to get the all-important rotisserie chicken, however. The third week was the charm – we headed out early and had our pick of the offerings.
