Vienna: Look Up!

As we first walked around Vienna, we noticed a few interesting details when we remembered to look up from the cobblestones, people dodging, and window shopping. So we started to remind each other, “Don’t forget to look up!” Good advice in any city, but especially here.

Not enough room for statues on the ground? Put them on the roof line! Here, on the parliament building

And then there’s the Kunsthistorisches Museum (Historical Art Museum), which is in a class of its own. (In the next blog post, you can see what it looks like when you look back down….) On the outside, no bare spot is spared:

However, Peterskirche gives it a run for its money – because there’s gilding, too!

No ornamentation is too much!
