It’s good to be back

We’re starting a trek through Europe (M likes to call it the great circle route) with two weeks in Lézargol in Brittany. This is our third time at this rental, and it’s just as delightful as ever.

As we drove into the familiar beautiful countryside after a night in a hotel in Brest, we breathed big sighs of contentment. It’s great to come back to a place and have it be just as good as you remembered.

Actually, I could feel a big smile on my face as we came out of the train station in Brest. The smell of the salt air, the sound of the seagulls, the attractive train station, even the cobblestones underfoot making it hard to push the luggage, they all said “France” to me in a way the croissant and espresso at the airport (a tradition) and the train/metro into Paris and the TGV from Gare Montparnasse did not.

The owner remembered that we really enjoyed the cider she had given us in 2019 and gave us not one but two bottles as a welcome gift, along with cookies and a far breton made by her mother. All delicious! We’ve settled in at Lézargol, surrounded by the beautiful gardens.

And there’s no better way for us to kick off a French stay than with kir and cashews. Salut!

  1. So glad you are back in Brittany in one of your favorite places. The photos suggest good weather and hopefully that continues.

    Enjoy!
