A Little More Bodensee

We recovered from our bike trip with a stay in Immenstaad am Bodensee at the Heinzler am See hotel. Ahh, sleeping in! Actually, the first day we got up relatively early to catch a ferry to go see the dahlias. There are ferries between many of the towns – it’s a great way to travel!

in addition to the dahlias, we also saw (from the outside) the residence of the count who owns the island and (from the inside) the family chapel. It’s too ornate for my liking. Could they really have been focusing on God in this setting? Or were they just distracting themselves during the sermon?

On the ferry ride back to Immenstaad, we stopped in Constance. We spent two nights in a hotel across the street from the train station, which backs up to the harbor. Somehow we never realized all these sights were so nearby…

We saw zeppelins almost every day during our bike trip and initially wondered why. Turns out they were invented and built here in Friedrichshafen, where there is a Zeppelin Museum. We had to see it.

This last one seems like a monumentally bad idea. Launching and recovering a biplane from a blimp full of bags of hydrogen – what could go wrong?

The real thing, giving tours for those willing to hand over a lot of money
We saw small self-service fruit stands everywhere, mostly selling apples, all on the honor system
The view from our hotel room – perfect!
